New Butte county sobering and detox center approved

The Director of Butte Behavioral Health, Scott Kennelly, tells Action News Now this will benefit the community by connecting people to drug and alcohol resources and could keep people out of jail.

Kennelly says having the sobering center could help local law enforcement. Police could drop off people at the sobering center instead of arresting them and taking them to jail. Therefore, the police can use more resources for more serious crimes but can only drop people off if they are willing to go to the sobering center
